All LinkedIn Image Sizes (2026)

LinkedIn uses different image dimensions for personal profiles, company pages, posts, articles, and events. Using the exact recommended size prevents cropping, blurriness, and ensures your content looks professional across desktop and mobile.

Personal Profile vs. Company Page

LinkedIn has separate image specs for personal profiles and company pages. The most common mistake is using the personal banner size for a company cover (or vice versa) — they have completely different dimensions.

ElementPersonal ProfileCompany Page
Profile Photo / Logo400 × 400 px (8 MB max)400 × 400 px (3–4 MB max)
Banner / Cover1584 × 396 px (4:1)1128 × 191 px (~6:1)
Max File Size8 MB3–4 MB
FormatsJPG, PNGPNG (recommended), JPEG

Both profile photos display as circles, so keep faces or logos centered and away from the edges. LinkedIn does not retain PNG transparency — transparent backgrounds convert to white.

Banner Safe Zone

LinkedIn banners are cropped differently on desktop and mobile. On mobile, the sides are cut significantly. To make sure text, logos, and key visuals remain visible on all devices:

Always test your banner on both desktop and the LinkedIn mobile app before publishing. A banner that looks great on desktop may have critical elements hidden on phone screens.

Carousel / Document Post Dimensions

LinkedIn “carousel” posts are created by uploading a PDF, PPTX, or DOCX file as a document post. Each page of the document becomes a swipeable slide in the feed.

Tips for carousel posts:

Article & Newsletter Cover Tips

LinkedIn articles (long-form content published via the LinkedIn editor) and newsletters share the same cover image specifications:

Article covers are the first thing readers see in the feed. A strong, relevant cover image with clear text overlay can increase click-through rates by 2–3× compared to generic images.

LinkedIn Post Image Best Practices

LinkedIn supports up to 9 images per post. For multi-image posts, all images should ideally share the same dimensions. Single-image posts support three orientations:

Images below 401 px wide display as tiny thumbnails in the feed. Always upload at the recommended dimensions. LinkedIn accepts JPG, PNG, and GIF (static only — animated GIFs render as static images). Maximum file size is 8 MB per image.

Frequently Asked Questions

The recommended LinkedIn personal profile banner is 1584 × 396 px (4:1 aspect ratio). Keep text, logos, and key visuals within the center 1200 × 300 px safe zone, because mobile devices crop the sides significantly. The company page cover is a different size — 1128 × 191 px.
For maximum engagement, use 1080 × 1350 px (4:5 portrait) — it takes up the most screen space on mobile. For a clean, professional look, 1080 × 1080 px (1:1 square) works well. Landscape posts use 1200 × 627 px (1.91:1). All images should be under 8 MB.
LinkedIn does not support animated GIFs in regular posts or profile images — they render as static images. Animated GIFs are only supported in LinkedIn ad formats. If you need animation in organic posts, upload a native video (MP4) instead. Also note that PNG transparency is not retained — transparent backgrounds convert to white.
The recommended LinkedIn company page cover is 1128 × 191 px (~6:1 aspect ratio). LinkedIn’s official documentation also mentions 4200 × 700 px as an updated spec. Mobile crops to about 900 px center width, so center all key elements. Maximum file size is 3 MB (PNG or JPEG).
LinkedIn carousel posts are created by uploading a PDF, PPTX, or DOCX file as a “document” post. Each page becomes a swipeable slide. Use 1080 × 1080 px (square) or 1080 × 1350 px (portrait) slides. Export as PDF for best quality, keep the file under 3 MB, aim for 8–15 slides, and add 80 px padding on all sides.
